<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> MINUTES <br />CLIVE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD <br />Monday, May 2, 2011 <br />Council Chambers <br />th <br /> 1900 NW 114 Street <br /> <br />Chairman Crawford called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present <br /> Barnes, Postma, Crawford, Shetler, Reed. Easler arrived at 5:37 p.m. <br />Absent <br /> Martin <br /> <br />Reed made a motion to approve the agenda tabling Item 4 at the request of staff, seconded by <br />Postma. All signified aye, motion approved. <br /> <br />Reed made a motion to approve the consent items, seconded by Shetler. All signified aye, <br />motion approved. <br /> <br />There were no citizen presentations. <br /> <br />Consideration of Special Park Use Permit (Clive Running Festival): <br />Requesting event be held on Saturday, June 18th at the Clive Aquatic Center. Would like to <br />use the Special Events Building vs. Campbell shelter due to parking, weather variables (i.e., <br />wind, rain and temperature). Ed Bell attended the meeting to present different race route <br />options for the 5K and 10K runs. Staff had previously met with him and provided him with <br />four drafts of routes of the run. Ed stated they could make one of the options work with the <br />revision of looping the route for the 10K. They would like to donate proceeds from this and <br />ed the board for any <br />suggestions. Ed made a recommendation for a portable toilet along the trail in times when the <br />shelter facilities were closed. Staff suggested consideration of <br />Group.portable toilets, snow removal on <br />the trail, etc. <br /> <br />Postma made a motion to approve the request for the route with the 10K loop turning right <br />th <br />onto the trail instead of crossing 114 Street, Barnes seconded the motion. All signified aye, <br />motion approved. <br /> <br />Easler made a motion to approve the request for the Special Park Use Permit, Reed <br /> <br />seconded the motion. All signified aye, motion approved. <br /> <br />Consideration of Special Park Use Permit (Clive Festival): <br />th <br />Requesting event be held July 15-16 at the Clive Aquatic Center. Eric Klein and Brian Sloan <br />attended the meeting and showed a Power Point presentation to the board regarding the <br /> Naturejazz <br />entertainers; live animal programming by Pella Wildlife Co., SOAR; <br />a fishing clinic by the DNR; and guided nature tours on the Greenbelt Trail. There would be <br />games Tug of War and bean bags, inflati <br />conjunction with Clive Fire Department), and they are requesting a free swim for Clive <br />residents from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Clive Aquatic Center.
