Last Thursday evening, the consultant selection team
interviewed three firms who submitted responses to the request for proposals. Following the
interviews the selection committee discussed the merits of each proposal and each interview.
The recommendation from the selection committee is to retain Genus Landscape Architects for
the 2011 Capital Improvement Projects. Staff requested that Genus provide them with a
revised scope of services that includes separating all of the projects into a Phase I and Phase 11
efforts. Phase I is to define the needs related to each project and probable cost. Phase 11 will
focus on construction.
Staff recommends approval of the proposal from Genus Landscape Architects for the 2011
Capital Improvement Projects.
Shetler made a motion to approve Genus as the consultant, seconded by Reed All signified
aye, motion approved
Other Power Driven Mobility Devices (OPDMD):
Staff had additional policy information from Polk County Conservation, but has yet to receive
anything from neighboring communities regarding their schedule for this policy, with the
exception of Windsor Heights. Windsor Heights has selected portions of the DOJ ruling and
incorporated those into their bicycle regulations. Staff attached the Polk County Conservation
Policy and the Dallas County Conservation Policy for the Raccoon River Valley Trail for
review. Staff formatted a Clive Greenbelt Trail assessment based upon the Dallas County
version since the Greenbelt Trail connects to the Raccoon River Valley Trail and there would
be some consistency between the two.
