poff MINUTES <br />CLIVE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD <br />Monday, December 5, 2011 <br />Council Chambers <br />1900 NW 114 Street <br />Crawford called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />Present — Barnes, Crawford, Easler, Martin, Reed, Shetler <br />Easler made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Shetler. All signified aye, motion <br />approved <br />Easler made a motion to approve the consent items, seconded by Barnes. All signified aye, <br />motion approved <br />There were no citizen presentations. <br />Request for Pickle Ball Court: <br />Clive resident, Norm Peterson attended the meeting to request that the Board consider adding <br />lines to a tennis court in Lions Park or Campbell Recreation Area to accommodate Pickle Ball. <br />Mr. Peterson explained that Pickle Ball is a game that is a cross between Tennis, Ping Pong <br />and Volleyball. The court is the same size as a volleyball court, the paddles are slightly larger <br />than a Ping Pong paddle with no rubber on them and a baseball -sized wiffle ball is used. Staff <br />suggested that Campbell Recreation Area would be a good location to add lines to one of the <br />three courts, therefore allowing use of the other two courts for tennis. Staff will research what <br />color of lines would be best in conjunction with the tennis court lines. <br />Reed made a motion to approve the painting of one of the courts at Campbell for Pickle Ball, <br />seconded by Barnes. All signified aye, motion approved <br />Fee Schedule for 2012: <br />Each year, the Board reviews and approves a proposed fee schedule for the city council to <br />consider for services that relate to department's operations. Staff presented the second draft to <br />the Board for their consideration. Staff has suggested the Board's consideration for the <br />following revisions for the 2012 fee schedule: two shelter rentals per day or an all -day option <br />with pre- designated time slots; two and four hour softball field rentals plus adding cost of <br />equipment to maintain the fields; sand volleyball court rentals; adding stipulations /fees in <br />regard to rental cancellations /changes; and adjusting fees for admission to the Aquatic Center. <br />Staff requested approval of the proposed Fee Schedule for 2012. <br />Easler made a motion to approve the proposed fees for 2012, seconded by Shetler. All <br />signified aye, motion approved <br />Lions Park Utility Easement: <br />Walnut Creek Little League is proposing to build a new concession and restroom facility. The <br />closest water main is at Wildwood Drive and 159 To access that water main, the Little <br />League is requesting that the City grant them an easement through Lions Park.
