poff MINUTES <br /> CLIVE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD <br /> Monday, January 10, 2012 <br /> Council Chambers <br /> 1900 NW 114th Street <br /> Kelly Canfield, Director of Parks and Recreation, called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> Present—Crawford,Easler, Barnes, Martin, Ramundt, Reed, Shetler <br /> Staff welcomed new Park Board member, Dana Ramundt. Board introduced themselves and <br /> gave a brief history of their Park Board service. <br /> Crawford nominated Kevin Shetler to serve as Board Chairperson for 2012, seconded by <br /> Barnes. No other nominations were submitted. All signified aye, nomination and motion <br /> approved. <br /> Shetler nominated Jennifer Easler to serve as Board Vice Chairperson for 2012, seconded <br /> by Reed. No other nominations were submitted. All signified aye, nomination and motion <br /> approved. <br /> Crawford made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Barnes. All signified aye, <br /> motion approved <br /> Easler made a motion to approve the consent items, seconded by Barnes. All signified aye, <br /> motion approved <br /> There were no citizen presentations. <br /> 86th Street Streetscape Improvements: <br /> The City is beginning to look at Phase III of the 86th Streetscape Improvements and Confluence <br /> Design has been the consultant helping with the last two phases. Chris Della Vedova and Chris <br /> Gray from Confluence, as well as Matt McQuillen, Assistant City Manager and project manager <br /> for the City, presented some initial concepts for streetscape improvements on 86th Street. This <br /> project has generally been outside of the Parks and Recreation Board's work, but for this phase <br /> of the project they are seeking comments and suggestions from the Park Board for possible <br /> improvements to the park area. Enhancements that were solicited include improving the entrance <br /> drive to the Greenbelt Park, adding sidewalk connections and replacing a corner of the parking <br /> lot(due to drainage issues). <br /> City-Wide Signage Study: <br /> Confluence is also the consultant for the City-wide signage study, and will be working with the <br /> Board for the next few meetings to review needs and possible concepts for signage design as it <br /> relates to the City's parks and trail signs. Some areas of consideration are: how to balance the <br /> presence of Clive along with Central Iowa Trails on the trail signs (if so decided to incorporate); <br /> using the icon system for features within the larger parks; maintaining consistency with the signs <br /> throughout the parks, trails and the City; and to prioritize the need for sign placement in the <br />
