Clive Public Arts Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes <br /> Wednesday, November 30, 2011 <br /> Clive City Hall, North Conference Room, 1900 NW 114th Street <br /> Call to order: Commission Chairman Tom Murphy called the meeting to order at 5:35 PM. <br /> Members Present: Marilyn Baker, Anne Keating, Karen Leibold, Murphy, Kim Peters and Beth Wilson <br /> Members Absent: Tracy Levine, Vicki Poole, Linda Shanks <br /> Staff and Guests Present: Matt McQuillen, Assistant City Manager <br /> Approval of Agenda and Minutes — Leibold made a suggestion that Arts Vote Iowa be added to the <br /> agenda. A motion was made by Keating and seconded by Peters that the corrected Agenda be <br /> approved. The motion was unanimously approved. Upon a motion made by Leibold and seconded by <br /> Baker,the minutes were unanimously approved. <br /> Announcement from the Chair- None. <br /> Citizen Presentation- None. <br /> Budget Review- <br /> McQuillen updated the Commission on the budget. The transfer of funds was made to a separate <br /> Maintenance Trust Fund for periodic future maintenance of commissioned artwork. In addition, the <br /> lighting fixtures for the Black Diamond project have arrived and will be installed shortly. Of the <br /> approximate $5,500 remaining in the Black Diamond fund, approximately $2,500 will be used for the <br /> lighting fixtures and installation cost. The remaining funds will be transferred to the Art Along the Trail <br /> Fund. <br /> Old Business- <br /> Black Diamond-Shuler Public Art Memorial- <br /> McQuillen reported that lighting will be added to the Black Diamond shortly. The scratch on the <br /> sculpture's base will be repaired in the spring since it is now too cold. He will discuss the repair with the <br /> fabricator to see if he can repair the scratch in the paint. <br /> Art Along the Trail- <br /> McQuillen reported that the City has built the six concrete pads and installed the metal mounting plates <br /> for the sculptures at the six chosen locations for the Art Along the Trail project. The cost for the <br /> materials was approximately $1,000. McQuillen reported that he has received many inquiries from <br /> artists as a result of the Call to Artists. <br /> McQuillen reported that the Selection Committee for the Art Along the Trail project will consist of <br /> Mayor Cirksena as the City's representative, Diana Reed and Scott Crawford as the Parks Board <br /> representatives, Cinnamon Rost as the Clive Chamber's representative, and Laura Palmer as the Art <br /> Community's representative. Two representatives of the PAAC are also part of the Selection <br /> Committee. After a discussion, a motion was made by Keating and seconded by Peters to have Murphy <br /> and Wilson serve on the Art Along the Trail Selection Committee as the PAAC's representatives, with <br /> Baker as an alternate. The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> The subcommittee on fundraising/grants consisting of Levine, Peters and Wilson will be meeting next <br /> week to discuss sponsorship/marketing of the Art Along the Trail project. <br />
