Library Board Minutes <br /> City of Clive <br /> Monday, September 17, 2012 <br /> The meeting of the Clive Library Board of Trustees was held Monday, September 17, <br /> 2012, at Clive City Hall at 6:00 P.M. <br /> The Meeting was called to order by President Durick at 6:00 p.m. <br /> Board Members Present: Faux, Janssen, Price, Menning, Hendrickson and Durick. <br /> Aasheim was absent. <br /> Also present: Director Hibbert, Administrative Assistant Hungerford, Council Member <br /> Eric Klein and his two sons Austin and Carson. <br /> Motion by Hendrickson, second by Menning to approve the Agenda. Ayes: Hendrickson, <br /> Menning, Price, Janssen, Faux and Durick. Nays: None. Motion Carried. <br /> Citizen's Presentation/Public Comment: Council Member Klein informed the Board he <br /> was attending a meeting of each of the City's Boards and Commissions and was present <br /> to observe the Board Meeting and answer any questions Board Members might have. <br /> Motion by Faux, second by Menning to approve the Consent Items. 4a. Minutes dated <br /> August 20, 2012; 4b. Financial Reports August 2012; 4c. Revenue Reports August 2012; <br /> 4d. Attendance Reports August 2012; 4e. Circulation Reports August 2012. Ayes: Faux, <br /> Menning, Janssen, Price, Hendrickson and Durick. Nays: None. Motion Carried. <br /> Director's Report: <br /> - Romance novelist Leigh Michaels will be at the Library on October 16, at 6:30 p.m. <br /> Romance is the second most popular genre at the Clive Library and is first nationwide. <br /> Her presentation will include a history of the genre, how she got started and her publishing <br /> experience, followed by a question and answer period. <br /> - Members were provided with the City's Action Plan timeline for the newly adopted <br /> Strategic Range Plan. An update to the Library's Strategic Plan adopted in 2007, is <br /> scheduled for completion the second quarter of FY 12-13. Director Hibbert and staff have <br /> begun work on that update and a draft will be ready for the Board's review at the October <br /> meeting. <br /> Council Member Klein responded to several questions posed by Board Members. In response <br /> to a question about the land across the street from City Hall and whether a future library <br /> would still be built on it, he said no decisions have been made about what will be in the Town <br /> Center on that property and it is still quite possible the library will be built there. In response <br /> to another question about the Council's strategic planning with regard to the Library he said <br /> Council is looking at all departments for possible ways to improve them and this includes the <br /> Library. <br /> President Durick adjourned the meeting at 6:33 p.m. <br /> Kathie Hungerford <br /> Library Administrative Assistant <br />
