MINUTES <br /> CLIVE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD <br /> Monday,August 5, 2013 <br /> Special Events Building— Clive Aquatic Center <br /> 1801 NW 114th Street <br /> Present— Crawford, Reed, Shetler, Easler <br /> Absent—Ramundt, Martin <br /> Chairman Sheder called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. <br /> Easler made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Reed. All signified aye, motion <br /> approved. <br /> Easler made a motion to approve the consent items, seconded by Crawford. All signified aye, <br /> motion approved. <br /> There were no citizen presentations. <br /> Eagle Scout Project—Tree Planting, Lions Park: <br /> Zac Dietrich is requesting the Board's consideration regarding a tree planting project for Lion's <br /> Park. Zac would like to plant 21 trees, seven each of Skyline Locusts, Autumn Gold Ginkgo and <br /> Burgundy Belle Maples. The project, when completed, will allow Zac to qualify for an Eagle <br /> Scout Badge. Zac presented his plan and informed the Board that he will raise the funds to <br /> purchase the trees and that he and other scouts will plant the trees in late September or early <br /> October. <br /> Crawford made a motion to approve the request for the Eagle Scout tree planting project, <br /> seconded by Easler. All signified aye, motion approved. <br /> Approval of REAP Grant Application: <br /> Staff presented the 2013 REAP grant application for the Board's review. The grant application <br /> is for funding to assist with the purchase of approximately 15.3 acres of land anticipated as an <br /> addition to the Greenbelt Park. The land is west of Alice's Road and generally follows Little <br /> Walnut Creek in this area of the community. The estimate cost of the land acquisition is <br /> $218,437.42. The City is eligible for a grant maximum of$125,000. The remaining funds <br /> needed for the acquisition is currently included in the Capital Improvement Plan. <br /> Reed made a motion to approve the grant application, seconded by Crawford. All signified <br /> aye, motion approved. <br /> Urban Deer Management Program, Times and Dates for 2013-2014: <br /> Staff has provided the Board with the application for the Urban Deer Management Program with <br /> the dates revised to coincide with the current calendar year. No additional dates are proposed <br /> and the times for the hunt are proposed to remain the same as in previous years. <br /> Crawford moved approval of the times and dates for the 2013-2014 Urban Deer Management <br /> Program, seconded by Reed. All signified aye, motion approved. <br />
