The state mandates this code and will be adopting the 2012
version in the near future. It will be much more stringent and difficult to meet the
code. MidAmerican Energy may give more rebates to offset the cost of meeting the
code.
Some of the code changes will include a more efficient appliances, "tighter"
buildings, additional insulation on the outside of the building, etc. This will create a
domino effect for the materials to make everything fit.
Electrical Service Panel Up-grade Discussion
It has always been a struggle to determine where to stop requiring upgrades when
dealing with service panels.
In the past we have been requiring only additions to meet new codes and requiring
GFCI's. This is not in writing anywhere, so need to determine what the board
expects. We would like to be able to ensure kitchens and bathrooms are updated at
the time of any service panel changes. Will discuss further at the next meeting.
Being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
