Library Board Minutes <br /> City of Clive <br /> Monday, October 21, 2013 <br /> A meeting of the Clive Library Board of Trustees was held Monday, October 21, 2013, at <br /> Clive City Hall at 6:00 P.M. <br /> The Meeting was called to order by President Menning at 6:02 p.m. <br /> Board Members Present: Faux, Menning, Bogaczyk and Sheffield. Aasheim and Price were <br /> absent. Susan Judkins-Josten submitted her resignation October 11, 2013, pending her appointment <br /> to the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br /> Also present: Interim Library Director Morgan, Administrative Assistant Hungerford and City <br /> Council Liaison John Edwards. <br /> Motion by Faux, second by Bogaczyk to approve the Agenda with the addition of President's <br /> Report. Ayes: Faux, Bogaczyk, Sheffield and Menning. Nays: None. Motion Carried. <br /> Citizen's Presentation/Public Comment: <br /> Council Member Edwards informed the Board there will be a Candidate Forum on October 28 <br /> for the open mayor and city council seats on the November 5 election. The Council also voted <br /> to fill a vacancy by appointment. <br /> Motion by Bogaczyk, second by Sheffield to approve the Consent Items. 4a. Minutes dated <br /> August 19, 2013; 4b. Financial Reports August 2013 and September 2013; 4c. Revenue Reports <br /> August 2013 and September 2013; 4d. Attendance Reports August 2013 and September 2013; <br /> 4e. Circulation Reports August 2013 and September 2013. Ayes: Bogaczyk, Sheffield, Faux <br /> and Menning. Nays: None. Motion Carried. <br /> Director's Report <br /> - Library staff and Polaris representatives have been working to resolve the remaining issues <br /> with the new circulation system. The September circulation statistics are estimated due to not all <br /> items being assigned a category during the conversion process. The first program registration on <br /> this new system started October 21. <br /> - September was library card signup month. Children obtaining their first library card were given <br /> a goody bag and had their picture displayed in the library. <br /> - Author Kathryn Koob was at the library on September 17, discussing her experience as a hostage <br /> during the 1980s Iran Hostage Crisis. Over 100 people attended the event. <br /> President's Report <br /> President Menning reports she and Board Member Faux are on the committee to interview <br /> candidates for the Leisure Services Director. <br /> President Menning reports she is also on the citizen's committee for the new town center. Two <br /> meetings have been held to date, with several more scheduled. At this point, there is a lot of <br /> information gathering, with sharing of plans, ideas and concerns. There was discussion on the <br /> new city building under consideration being a combined city hall/police station instead of a <br /> library/police station, if this town center concept is to be a gathering place. <br /> The next regular scheduled meeting is November 18, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. <br /> President Menning adjourned the meeting at 6:34 p.m. <br /> Kathie Hungerford, Library Administrative Assistant <br />
