Clive Public Arts Advisory Commission Meeting <br /> Minutes <br /> September 16, 2013 <br /> Present: Marilyn Baker, Josh Dreyer, Faith Garnaas, Karen Leibold, Linda Shanks, Dr. <br /> Vicky Poole, Matt McQuillen, Tom Murphy, Kim Peter <br /> Absent: Tracy Levine <br /> Guests: Acacia Smith <br /> Call to Order:The meeting was called to order at 5:32 pm by Chair Karen Leibold. <br /> Approval of Agenda: A motion was made by Linda, seconded by Vicky and approved to <br /> approve the agenda. <br /> Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Kim, seconded by Faith and approved to <br /> approve the August 19th meeting minutes. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Art Commission Update — Woodland Parkway Entrance: Matt indicated he has now <br /> received quotes from some fabricators for the art piece. A grant application to Prairie <br /> Meadows has been submitted for $20,000. Matt discussed how it will be important for <br /> the PAAC to find outside sources of funds as he is not sure how much longer City <br /> support will be available for the public art program. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> Art Along the Trail Selection Recommendation: Following a discussion on the six pieces <br /> in the exhibit the PAAC recommended that the City Council purchase "The Red Coyote" <br /> for the City's permanent collection. The goal for adding this piece would be to move the <br /> piece around each year to different locations along the trail and make the process <br /> interactive for trail users to find where "The Red Coyote" is this year. <br /> Public Art Internship: Matt introduced Acacia Smith as the person he would like to hire <br /> as the public art intern for the upcoming spring semester. Matt outlined the <br /> responsibilities of the intern, which will focus on the coordination of the 2014 Art Along <br /> the Trail program. The PAAC consented with Matt's recommendation and Acacia will <br /> start sometime around the 1St of the year. <br /> Adjournment: There being no further discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 6:45 <br /> pm. <br />
