MINUTES <br /> CLIVE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD <br /> Monday, January 6, 2014 <br /> Council Chambers <br /> 1900 NW 114th Street <br /> Present`-Martin, Reed, Ramundt and Shetler <br /> Absent—Crawford <br /> Shetler called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. <br /> Ramundt made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Reed. Ayes:Martin, Reed, <br /> Ramundt, Shetler. Nays:none. <br /> There were no citizen presentations. <br /> Old Business: <br /> There was no discussion required. <br /> New Business: <br /> Shetler introduced the new Leisure Services Director, Todd Seaman. Staff provided a brief <br /> history about himself and requested the Board do the same. <br /> Greenbelt Snow Removal Policy: Leisure Services Director Seaman discussed with the <br /> board the practice/policy for snow removal from the Greenbelt Trail that currently only <br /> allows staff to remove snow from the trail between 73rd Street to the dam at Country Club. <br /> This process is done only after other snow removal duties are completed without using <br /> overtime hours. Seaman shared with the board there has been citizen input requesting <br /> more sections of the trail be cleared of snow in order to allow use by the public. He also <br /> informed the board that by altering the method of snow removal to allow plowing of the <br /> trail with a pickup truck and blade, it would decrease staff time and costs related to snow <br /> removal on the trail. The Board was asked to approve the proposal as presented and <br /> recommend to the City Council approval at their January 16, 2014 meeting. <br /> Reed made a motion to approve the recommendation of snow removal on the Greenbelt Trail, <br /> seconded by Martin. Ayes:Martin, Reed, Ramundt, Shetler. Nays:none. <br /> a. 2014 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board Meeting Schedule: The Leisure Services <br /> director presented to the board an alternate meeting schedule for 2014 that would have <br /> the board meetings held every other month instead of every month. The Board members <br /> discussed how this schedule could impact approvals of Parks Special Use Permits and <br /> donations of aquatic center admissions. The Board agreed they were comfortable <br /> approving these requests by email if necessary, or holding a special meeting in the off <br /> month if action was required. The schedule proposed would have Park Board Meetings <br /> held on the odd months for 2014. <br /> Reed made a motion to approve the recommendation for 2014 meeting schedule, seconded by <br /> Ramundt. Ayes:Martin, Reed, Ramundt, Shetler. Nays:none. <br /> Director's Report: <br /> Staff complimented the quality of staff within the Parks and Recreation and Library Departments <br /> for how well they do working with the budget and looking at new ideas for the City. <br />
