MINUTES <br /> CLIVE LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES <br /> Monday, October 20, 2014 <br /> Council Chambers <br /> 1900 NW 114th Street <br /> Board Members Present: Bogaczyk, Faux, Price, Vance and Sheffield (arrived at 5:40 p.m.) <br /> Absent: Menning and Marquardt <br /> Also Present: Leisure Services Director Todd Seaman, Administrative Assistant Atha and City <br /> Council Liaison John Edwards <br /> In Chairperson Menning's absence, the meeting was called to order by Faux at 5:30 p.m. <br /> Bogaczyk made a motion to approve the Agenda, seconded by Price. Ayes: Bogaczyk, Faux, <br /> Price and Vance. Nays: none. <br /> Price made a motion to approve the Minutes from August 18, 2014, seconded by Vance. Ayes: <br /> Bogaczyk, Faux, Price and Vance. Nays: none. <br /> Citizen's Presentation/Public Comment: <br /> None. <br /> Old Business: <br /> None. <br /> New Business: <br /> a. Community Foundation Update for Friends' Funds — Mayor Scott Cirksena and Clive <br /> Community Foundation President Andrea Westmeyer were present to give an overview of <br /> the foundation and how it could work to merge with the Friends Organization Fund since the <br /> Friends organization has dissolved. The ENDOW IOWA Tax Credit incentive for donors <br /> and fund options were also reviewed. <br /> The board would like to get more details as to how the Friends' fund could be managed <br /> within this plan. Staff will make arrangements for a future meeting. <br /> b. Summer Program Report —staff members Stephanie Keller and Suzy Niebling were <br /> present to talk about the successes of library summer programs. <br /> c. Safe Child Policy Update — Staff updated the Safe Child Policy for the library per state <br /> certification requirements. Changes reflected an update in terminology without many <br /> changes to procedure. Staff recommended approval to the updated policy. <br /> Price made a motion to approve the update of the Safe Child Policy; seconded by <br /> Bogaczyk. Ayes: Bogaczyk, Faux, Price, Sheffield and Vance. Nays: None. <br /> d. Year-End Budget Discussion — Director Seaman reviewed the 2013-14 fiscal year budget <br /> with the board. <br /> Director's Report: <br /> • Director Seaman reviewed some program highlights that are offered in the Fall/Winter 2014- <br /> 15 Clive Creations. James Olson, the former CIA chief's visit to the library was a huge <br /> success. <br /> • Library and parks and recreation registration systems merge using RecTrac to make things <br /> easier for patrons. <br /> • Tables purchased on GovDeals for $50 have been put to good use in the public tech room in <br /> the library. <br />
