NCMIC has agreed to host a
free event that will focus on the successes of art in Clive, with the feature being the Marasco
piece. There also will perhaps be exhibits of various public art. The date and time for the event
are yet to be determined.
Kids for Art 2015: Seaman informed the commission that the event went very well, and there
was a record total of 87 entries and approximately 175 people that attended the award
ceremony and celebration held July 17 during the Clive Festival. The artwork will be on display
at City Hall until the end of the year.
Art Along the Trail Update: Votes are still coming into the library. Seaman encouraged the
commission members to personally experience each art piece for themselves. The commission
will be making the choice at the October meeting of which artwork the city shall purchase to add
the permanent collection. Seaman also informed the commission three additional locations will
be added to the 2016 exhibit, and recommendations for those locations will be presented at the
next meeting.
Other Business:
a. "Activate the Greenbelt" Kickoff:
Matt McQuillen informed the commission of the event on September 17th. It has
been proposed that there be an activity with the mayor, an activity with kids and artwork
- perhaps having kids decorate tiles with art. He asked the commission to please provide
any additional ideas they may have to help make the event a success.
b.
