<br /> <br /> MINUTES <br />CLIVE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD <br />Monday, October 6, 2008 <br />Council Chambers <br />th <br /> 1900 NW 114 Street <br /> <br />Chairman Lancaster called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present – , <br />BarnesEasler, Klein, Lancaster,Lorenzen,Otte <br /> <br />Absent – <br />Crawford <br /> <br />Easler made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Klein. All signified aye, motion <br />approved. <br /> <br />Klein made a motion to approve the consent items, seconded by Lorenzen. All signified aye, <br />motion approved. <br /> <br />There were no citizen presentations. <br /> <br />Use of Tobacco Products Policy- <br />Notice asking for input on this item has been included in the city newsletter, on the city <br />website and through emails sent to Campbell Recreation League Softball Captains. Only a few <br />responses have been received with a majority of those supportive of tobacco-free parks. <br />Drafts of the Smoke-Free Policy, compiled by the Assistant City Manager, and the Tobacco- <br />Free Policy, developed by staff, were given to the Board for review. The policy, if <br />recommended by the Board, will be taken to the City Council for final consideration and <br />approval. <br /> <br />Easler made a motion to approve the proposed Tobacco-Free Policy. Otte seconded the <br /> <br />motion. All signified aye, motion approved. <br /> <br />New Waukee School Site- <br />A 20 acre site in Clive has been proposed for a new Waukee Elementary School. This plan <br />leaves four or five acres for a park site. A partnership between the school district and the city <br />has been mentioned, but no details have been discussed at this time. After reviewing current <br />and future park sites in the area, the Board suggested to continue discussion on this issue with <br />further details to be provided at a later time. <br /> <br />2009-2010 Operating Budget- <br />Staff shared the current operating budget and asked for 2009-2010 budget requests. A <br />proposed 2009-2010 budget will be presented to the Board at the November meeting for <br />approval before it is submitted to the City Manager. <br /> <br />Ambassador’s Reports- <br />Otte attended the City Council meeting and shared the discussion regarding the playhouse <br />issue. A deadline for the Board of Adjustment decision was extended. <br /> <br />
