<br />Clive Public Art Advisory Commission <br />July 23, 2008 <br />th <br />Clive City Hall, 1900 NW 114 Street, Clive, Iowa <br /> <br />Call to order by Chairman <br />JohnDilley at 4:30 PM. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> Dilley, Yvonne Brune, Bill Dikis, Karen Leibold, Tracy Levine, and Linda <br />Shanks. Chaden Halfhill and Chuck Kuba were unable to attend but had previously <br />Staff and Guests Present <br />submitted comments regarding the draft master plan to Lisa. : <br />Lisa Schmidt, Clive Assistant City Manager <br /> <br />Motion to approve agenda <br /> by Leibold and seconded by Dikis. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Motion to approve minutes <br /> by Leibold and seconded by Brune. Motion passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />Announcements from the Chair <br />Announcements from the chair pertained to the discussion of the draft master plan <br />review, and asked the group to work purposefully while reviewing the draft to honor our <br />allotted time for the meeting. <br /> <br />% for Art Discussion regarding Waukee School District <br />The % for art discussion to be led by Bill Dikis was moved to the August meeting. Bill <br />will provide verbiage for an approach to present to the City Council as far as concepts <br />He will submit this draft electronically to Lisa for the <br />and recommendations. <br />Commission’s review; this will be discussed and voted upon at the August meeting <br />. <br /> <br />Staff report <br />Lisa indicated that the Mayor had been in discussion with Jon Garnaas, President of <br />LADCO Development, regarding the forthcoming public art that will be sited on the <br />th <br />Clive/Mercy Wellness Campus (a LADCO project) near University Avenue and 128 <br />Street. Lisa has been in contact with Garnaas to request that the PAAC be able to shadow <br />the process LADCO undergoes when commissioning a public art piece. This would give <br />the PAAC a concrete project to experience the commissioning process in action. Past <br />practice has demonstrated that Garnaas and LADCO are leaders in the private <br />development sector when it comes to art integration within developments. <br /> <br />Draft Public Art Master Plan Review <br />The draft master plan was then reviewed by the Commission at length and finished with <br />Tracy will rewrite “What is <br />additional work to be completed by Tracy, Bill, and Lisa. <br />Public Art,” Bill will rewrite “Procedures for Selecting Public Art for Private <br />Development,” and Lisa will complete all other revisions suggested during the <br />review. <br /> Once completed, Lisa will send Draft #4 to the Commission for final review <br />before the August meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
