<br /> <br />MINUTES <br />CLIVE PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD <br />Monday, March 3, 2008 <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />th <br />1900 NW 114 STREET <br /> <br />Chairman Lancaster called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Present – , <br />BarnesKlein, Lancaster, Lorenzen, Otte <br /> <br />Absent – <br />Crawford <br /> <br />Lorenzen moved to approve the agenda, seconded by Klein. All signified aye, motion <br />approved. <br /> <br />Otte moved to approve the consent items, seconded by Lorenzen. All signified aye, motion <br />approved. <br /> <br />There were no citizen presentations. <br /> <br />Easler arrived at 5:34. <br /> <br />Karp Plaza Park Conceptual Plan- <br />Laura Peters, Genus Landscape Architects, presented three concepts for the Karp Park Project. <br />These plans were developed from the Board’s concept choice at the January meeting. <br />Topography was a major consideration in designing the conceptual plans. A preliminary <br />opinion of probable costs was also shared. The Board discussed options concerning the types <br />of buffers that could be provided to benefit the neighbors, safe locations for play areas, and the <br />desire for minimal removal of trees. Attending residents were invited to speak. <br />th <br />Bill McFeders, 1604 Northwest 109, inquired about the Rain Garden design and diversion of <br />the runoff. <br />Bob Day, 10919 Hickory Dr., made comments of appreciation for the work done on the three <br />designs. <br />Kelly Canfield, Director of Parks and Recreation, shared email comments from three residents <br />that had responded regarding the plans. <br /> <br />Lorenzen made a motion to approve the West Scheme, with Mr. Mankle’s written <br />recommendations considered. Klein requested to amend the motion to include fencing along <br />the basketball court area. Easler seconded the motion as amended. All signified aye, motion <br />approved. <br /> <br />Clive After Five Request- <br />th <br />Mike Postma, 1927 NW 90 St., Management Vice President, Clive Jaycees, requested the use <br />of Linnan Park for the group’s Friday events. Changes requested for the event include <br />reducing the number of dates to 12 and extending the event ending time for one half hour. <br />Staff shared concerns from the Police Department regarding procedures followed at the event <br />exit. Park Staff asked that all picnic tables be returned to the shelter after the event and that <br /> <br />
