An additional three new <br />members will be appointed before the February meeting. <br /> <br />Kelly Canfield, Director of Parks and Recreation, called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />*Present – , <br />BarnesCrawford, Postma, Reed <br /> <br />Barnes nominated Scott Crawford to serve as Board Chair for 2010, seconded by Postma. <br />All signified aye, nomination and motion approved. <br /> <br />Reed nominated Shari Barnes to serve as Board Vice Chair for 2010, seconded by <br />Postma. All signified aye, nomination and motion approved. <br /> <br />Barnes made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Reed. All signified aye, motion <br />approved. <br /> <br />Barnes made a motion to approve the consent items, seconded by Postma. All signified aye, <br />motion approved. <br /> <br />There were no citizen presentations. <br /> <br />Proposed Recreation and Aquatic Programs for 2010- <br />McKenzie Kiger, Recreation Supervisor, reviewed proposals for aquatic programs, noting that <br />the Spring/Summer Program Brochure will be delivered to residents in early March. The <br />th <br />proposed opening date for the Aquatic Center is Saturday, May 29, providing the week prior <br />th <br />for school pool rentals. The proposed closing date is August 29, based on school calendars <br />and previous history of reduction in attendance. It was suggested to offer and advertise after- <br />school hours as “Pass Sales Days” at the pool during the beginning of the season. Staff <br />proposed to increase the temperature requirements for opening to 74 degrees. It was suggested <br />that an email or text blast, regarding openings and closings of the Aquatic Center, be sent to <br />season pass holders <br />Staff presented new program ideas featuring a “Guest of the Day”, Water Safety Aide <br />Program, Special Needs Swim Time, Adult Diving Classes, Toddler Time, Parent/Child Infant <br />Classes for 6-18 month olds, Family Swim hours and an additional set of evening swim <br />lessons. <br />Doug Harris, Recreation Supervisor, listed the spring/summer recreation programs, mentioning <br />that the Clive niche is for 4-7 year olds. Weekly and daily camps will again be offered using <br />shelters throughout the park system. Sporting activities, tournaments, golf lessons, and fitness <br />classes remain on the schedule. Sand Volleyball and Softball Leagues will continue to offer <br /> <br />
