Motion
passed unanimously.
Announcements from Chair
- Chairman Dilley thanked Shanks, Leibold, and Schmidt for their
work at the Historical Society's Open House. He also thanked the Commission members for
their cooperative spirit during his term as Chairman.
Budget Review-
Schmidt indicated that the updated budget expenditures showed a 40% down
payment to Marc Moulton on the NW 86th/University project, conference registration fees for
two PAAC members to attend the Iowa Public Art Network Conference, and the cost of the
insert for the Sticks tile advertisement in the utility bills.
Website Review-
Leibold asked for additional information on the new Clive PAAC blog.
Schmidt indicated that the blog was a more efficient way for the PAAC to post pictures and
updates on new projects, it was archival, and it had some interactive features. Since the City has
limited space on its website, the blog gives the PAAC the opportunity to expand upon the limited
information available on the City's PAAC website.
New Business-
Dilley appointed the PAAC members present at the meeting to be the nominating
committee to select candidates for Chairman and Secretary for the 2010 term. Both
Dilley and Brune were not eligible to serve again. After discussion, Dikis was nominated
as Chairman and Keating was nominated as Secretary. A motion was made by Levine
and seconded by Leibold, to elect Dikis as Chairman and Keating as Secretary for the
2010 term. The motion was unanimous passed.
Schmidt provided an update on the sale of Sticks tiles in our effort to raise funds for the
NW 86th/University public art project. Forty-four tiles have sold. She will order three
additional 'We love Iowa' tiles and a few more Valley tiles since they have sold out. Any
new customized tile orders would not be available until mid-January 2010. Schmidt also
indicated that the Sticks artist has ultimate control on what type of customization will be
available on specific tiles.
