<br />Clive Public ArtsAdvisory CommissionMeetingMinutes <br />Wednesday, September 29, 2010 <br />Clive City Hall, Conference Room, 1900 NW 114th Street <br />Call to order: <br />Chairman Bill Dikiscalled the meeting to orderat 5:30PM. <br />Members Present: <br />Dikis, AnneKeating,TracyLevine, KarenLeibold, Tom Murphy, and Linda Shanks <br />Members Absent: <br />Chaden Halfhill, Chuck Kuba,and Yvonne Brune <br />Staff and Guests Present: <br />Lisa Schmidt, Clive Assistant City Manager <br />Approval of Agenda - <br />The Agenda wasunanimouslyapproved. <br />Approval of Minutes - <br />AMotion to approve the Minutes wasmade by Murphyand seconded by Shanks. <br />Motion passed unanimously. <br />Announcements from Chair <br />-Dikis commented that Kohl's provided funding for some community art <br />projects and we might consider requesting funding since Kohl'shas a store located in Clive. <br />Budget Review- <br />Leibold provided Commission members with handouts on the proposed newbudget <br />format. Schmidt indicated that the City of Waukee had given $5,000 toward the Shuler art project and <br />that she had also received a check for $1,000 from a private source. The Shuler art project now has <br />$62,400 in funds. Schmidt indicated that BRAVO has approved a $6,000 for the Art Along the Trail <br />project. The Commission members expressed their thanks to Leibold for her work on the new budget <br />format. <br />Dikis asked Commission members how they thought the $28,250 from the City's $2 per capita annual <br />allotmentshould be allocated for fiscal year 2011. Schmidt stated that in grants she had written for the <br />Art Along the Trail project, she had estimated the City would contribute $14,125 toward the project. <br />Dikis suggested that we consider allotting $2,250 towardadding art to City Halland that the Commission <br />keep some funds set aside for new projects. Other Commission members made comments regarding the <br />need for insurance, maintenance and lighting for the Art Along the Trail project. After considerable <br />discussion, a Motion was made by Keating and seconded by Murphy that the $28,250 for fiscal year 2011 <br />be allocated as follows: <br />$14,000Art Along the Trail project <br />$11,000New projects(unidentified at this time) <br />$ 2,250Art in City Hall project <br />$ 1,000Administration/Misc. <br />$28,250 <br />The Motion was unanimously approved by the Commission. <br />New Business- <br />Approval of the Shuler Public Art Memorial- <br />Murphy summarized the presentations made to the artist selection panel for Shuler Public Art <br />memorial by the three artists selected as finalists (Steve Maxon/Doris Park, Chris Bennett, <br />and Rebecca Ekstrand/Thomas Rosborough). The artist selection panel chose the proposal <br />made by Rebecca Ekstrand/Thomas Rosborough. <br />After further discussion regarding the proposal, Leibold made a Motion which was seconded <br />by Shanks that the Commission approvethe Artist Selection Committee's choice of the <br />Rebecca Ekstrand/Thomas Rosborough proposal and that the Commission's recommendation <br /> <br />
