<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Library Board Minutes <br />City of Clive <br />Wednesday, February 23, 2011 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The meeting of the Clive Library Board of Trustees was held Wednesday, February 23, 2011, <br />in the Community Room at Clive City Hall at 6:00 P.M. <br /> <br />The Meeting was called to order by Secretary Marquardt at 6:00 p.m. <br />Board Members Present: Janssen, Marquardt, Hendrickson, Menning and Aasheim. <br />Faux and Durick were absent. Durick joined the meeting via telephone at 6:13 p.m. <br />Also present: Director Hibbert and Administrative Assistant Hungerford. <br /> <br />Motion by Menning, second by Aasheim to approve the Agenda. Ayes: Menning, Aasheim, <br />Marquardt, Janssen and Hendrickson. Nays: None. Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Citizen’s Presentation/Public Comment: <br />None <br /> <br />Motion by Hendrickson, second by Menning to approve the Consent Items. 4a. Minutes <br />dated January 17, 2011; 4b. Financial Reports January 2011; 4c. Revenue Reports January <br />2011; 4d. Attendance Reports January 2011; 4e. Circulation Reports January 2011. <br />Ayes: Hendrickson, Menning, Marquardt, Aasheim and Janssen. Nays: None. Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Director’s Report: <br />- The new Early Literacy Station has been set up in the Children’s area. This was funded by a <br />donation from Friends of the Clive Public Library. <br /> - Director Hibbert encouraged Board Members to contact their legislatures about maintaining <br />continued financial support to libraries, to support the library reorganization bills, and to oppose <br />a provision in HF 9 requiring local governments to cut non-essential services or amenities such <br />as parks and libraries before cutting essential services. Just the cuts proposed in the Governor’s <br />budget for libraries would cost the City about $46,000. In addition, one of the departments of <br />state government announced plans this week to close over a dozen offices statewide to save <br />money and refer citizens in need of assistance in job hunting to local public libraries. The <br />department head also announced there would be training for local librarians so they could take <br />over these state responsibilities. <br />- The detective working on a case involving materials stolen from several central Iowa libraries <br />has forwarded the information to the Story County attorney to determine if charges will be <br />pursued. Charges may also be pursued in Polk County by 2-3 other libraries. <br /> <br />Nominating Committee Report: <br />The Nominating Committee recommends Jennifer Durick for President and Barbara Hendrickson <br />for Secretary. <br />Motion by Aasheim, second by Menning to approve the Nominating Committee’s Report. <br />Ayes: Aasheim, Menning, Hendrickson, Marquardt and Janssen.
