RESOLUTION NO. f I -98 <br /> RESOLUTION ADOPTING A <br /> GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE GOVERNING HANDICAPPED <br /> ACCESSIBILITY TO THE CITY OF CLIVE <br /> WHEREAS, The City of Clive, Iowa, being a recipient government of <br /> Federal Revenue Sharing in Excess of $25,000 per entitle- <br /> ment period is required by Section (2) of 51.55(d), US CFR <br /> to adopt a grievance procedure, and <br /> WHEREAS, Said grievance procedure requires the incorporation of due <br /> process that affords prompt and equitable resolution of <br /> complaints alleging discrimination towards the handicapped <br /> in admission, treatment, employment of personnel, and <br /> access to public facilities, and <br /> WHEREAS, It is the City's policy, practice, and implementation <br /> strategy that a grievance procedure addressing admission, <br /> treatment, employment, and accessability of the handi- <br /> capped to the city as outlined herein be fully implemented. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> CLIVE, IOWA THAT THE FOLLOWING POLICY AND PROCEDURES BE <br /> ADOPTED: <br /> Section 1. Grievance Policy <br /> The policy of the City is to foster, maintain, and promote equal <br /> employment opportunity. The city will select employees on the basis <br /> of an applicants' qualifications and without regard to age, sex, race, <br /> color, creed, religion or national origin. Applicants with physical <br /> handicaps will be given equal consideration with other applicants for <br /> positions in which their physical handicaps do not represent an un- <br /> reasonable barrier to satisfactory performance of work duties. <br /> Section 2. Policy Implementation <br /> All personnel responsible for recruiting and employment will <br /> continue to review regularly the implementation of this personnel <br /> policy and relevant practices to assure that equal employment oppor- <br /> tunity based on reasonable performance - related job requirements is <br /> being actively observed, to the end that no employee or applicant for <br /> age, sex, race, will suffer discrimination because of a color, <br /> g <br /> creed, religion, national origin or physical handicap. <br /> Section 3. Job Advertisements <br /> Employment advertisements will contain assurances of equal em- <br /> ployment opportunity and will comply with federal and state statutes <br /> regarding discrimination in employment matters based on age, sex, race, <br /> color, creed, religion, national origin or physical handicap. <br />
